40 1080p Viewing Experience.

Have you ever wanted the latest technology but your wallet kind of left you hanging? Thankfully, there is more than one way to keep up with the times. Taking home your very own 40 1080p TV could be in your bedroom soon and you will not have to take out second home loan.

40 1080p vs. 40 1080i

1080p describes a television that has 40 inch with 1920 x 1080-pixel display and the P stands for Progressive Scan. Bottom line is these sets should display every pixel of a high def broadcast. When a broadcast is in high def and transmitted to a progressive scan all the pixel lines, both odd and even are displayed at the same time giving a seamless smooth image.

40 1080i on the other hand has 40 inch but still has the 1920 x 1080-pixel display; however, it is Interlaced instead of progressive. In older televisions, the each frame of video was painted on the screen one line of pixels at a time, beginning with the odd and then the even numbered lines. This in a nutshell is interlacing.

Important Features

Some of the notations on the little card are not as important as others. The phrase 40 1080p is a shortened description that tells you some important information.

  • 40 is of course the screen size
  • HDTV – High Definition Television – This phrase as you will learn is used broadly.
  • Dynamic contrast ratio will look something like this 1000:1, and refers to the contrast between the whitest white and the blackest black. The higher the contrast ratio the better the picture, but again on smaller sets this may be an imperceptible difference.
  • HDMI port – High Definition Multimedia Input. This is a port you can connect your Blue-Ray or Hi-Definition cable box.

If all that sounds great and you’re ready to buy, the question is which 40 1080p TV to you purchase. You’ll find models from Toshiba, Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, and others. Prices range from $900 to $1800 for the same size. Toshiba and Samsung tend to cost less than the others while Samsung also has some of the top features, including built-in USB ports for extra connectivity.
