Despite the fact that Speaker Stands may not be the first thing you think of when you want to improve the sound quality of your stereo, it is very possible that a speaker stand could go a long way in helping to better your home theater setup. If you do plan to use speaker stands to improve the quality of your stereo’s sound, you will need to have the right stands, positioned in the proper places for the most benefit.

Firstly, decide what speaker stands you’ll need.

Speaker stands will improve the bass in both bookshelf speakers and stand mount speakers. A speaker stand will be just the right height to make the speaker level with the listener’s ear. You want as little vibration as possible, so heavy stands are the best. If your speaker stands are not heavy enough you can always fill the bottom with sand, but only if you have sealed speakers. You can also use lead shot if you prefer.

The sound your stereo system makes can be improved by correct positioning and location. You will want to place your stereo stands about 200mm from the rear walls, plus they should be about 700mm from the walls on either side. Speaker stands are best set up facing slightly in, towards each other. Placing the speakers close to the rear wall will improve the bass sound. The bass sound will be too boomy if the speakers are placed too close to the wall.

Another rule is to not place your loud speaker stands too close to TV Stands, as the drive unit magnets may cause some interference with the TV’s picture and sound.

If your speakers are new out of the box, it’s important to know that speakers do not sound their best when they are new. It will take approximately 50 hours of moderate use to break in the speakers to where you will get good sound. For this reason you will not want to bother trying to adjust your sound with speaker stands until the speakers have been used for some time.

Once you have used your speakers for at least 50 hours you can then begin using speaker stands or audio racks and placement to help improve the sound of your speakers.

When positioning your speaker stands, do some sound tests. Place them in various areas of the room and turn on your stereo to test the sound while you listen in your normal listening position. You’ll be able to get a great sound quality by placing the speakers in the right position.

If your old Plasma TV has finally given up and it’s time to look for a new set, you may find many new technological breakthroughs. If it’s been a while since you last looked into a TV, you may be confused by the different acronyms that refer to the types of TV sets. There are many types of TVs including LCD, Plasma, DLP and LED TVs. All the newer television sets are now digital ready without needing a converter box. Nowadays, you can find many different discount LCD TVs, but if you want the latest technology, look into the LED Televisions.

In LCD TVs, earlier models used fluorescent tubes as backlighting. As these tubes are on whenever the TV is on, it is difficult for them to display deep dark black colors that are needed for nice sharp pictures. At times this may be due to light leaks and at other times, it may be due to the limitation of fluorescent light. Fluorescent light has limitations on the number of colors that will show through the screen. This is likely because of the quality of fluorescent light and not because of the liquid crystal diodes, which can show unlimited colors. This is why fluorescent lighting limits the colors shown on a TV set, while LED lighting offers a higher range of colors.

There are two different ways LED lighting can be set up in a TV. One is to have the LED lights set along the edge of the TV screen and it is what is called an edge lit LED Television. The other way is to have them behind the screen in a setup called a backlit LED TV. You will be glad to know that, both of these LED technologies consume less energy than a fluorescent tube Plasma or LCD screen. The edgelit LED Televisions are cheaper and can also be very thin.

The back lit LED Television would give you better viewing pleasure if you are willing to pay a little more. If the sharpest darkest black colors are important to you, then you will want a back lit LED TV set.

If you don’t look around, you can end up paying up to two times as much for a LED backlit TV compared to a similar size Plasma or LCD TV. To find good LED TV deals, make sure you compare the prices and features at your local electronics store and also at the various online discount shopping websites.
